Leroi- Work in progress

Leroi
The face is blocked-in ok, now I will add shape and form to the body.
Fine detail is ignored until the forms are all correct.

This is about 20" x 20"

"BackLook" low relief nude

Contact me of you want a sculpture made with YOU as the model...
EricTheSculptor@gmail.com

"BackLook" relief wall hanging sculpture.
This Portrait of LyanneRae is 22" x 30"
First step is to choose where the pose will be on the board. I found that putting it low and to the right made it much more dramatic.

This is the first, rough layer of clay. I'm trying to establish the high and low spots, then I can start to refine the forms.

Leroi the dog portrait - process for setting a price

I have been asked to create a sculptural portrait of Leroi.

The process for animal sculptures is just about the same as for people sculptures:

Process
A handmade sculpture takes at least 6 hours of live sculpting from the model, and many more hours by me refining details from photos I take in the first meeting. Usually you should expect three, 2 hour sittings. Most models enjoy the time listening to their music and it’s not really necessary to remain still.
I can also work only from photos if the subject is not available. Please provide many photos showing all sides and various positions.

Costs
I am always happy to provide free estimates for sculptures. Tell me a bit about what you want, and provide a few photos by email or meet with me personally. I will make a quick, small sample model ( maquette ) for you to approve. All of this is done at no cost or obligation.
I’m sure you will find that the cost is lower than you would have expected for handmade, personalized art.
If your sculpture is to be cast in bronze, I will charge you for my sculpting, and pass on the foundry costs at no additional markup other than a $200 charge for my supervision at the foundry.

There will be lots of artist there, and in previous years the chalk drawings were really great. Eric Haggin "Eric The Sculptor" 925 336-6462 EricHaggin@gmail.com

Low relief sculpture of my family... in-progress

This will be a low-relief sculpture for over my fireplace.
I will sculpt it, make a rubber mold, then cast in special plaster.

It's a difficult and fun challenge to cast family or friends. The reference photo is from about 8 years ago.

Lots more work to do but I'm happy with how it's starting.

Male Torso

This sculpture is a study I made of a male torso.
I plan to cast it in plaster and use it as a referance for my students and for my own future projects.
I did this one at a workshop presented by Alicia Ponzio and hosted by Dogtown Sculptors

Fountain sculpture test "Hands in Hair"

"Hands in Hair" fountain sculpture

This is a small test sculpture for a larger sculpture I plan to make soon. This maquette is about 12" long.
The larger sculpture will be used in a fountain so I want to make sure the water flows over her hair in a beautiful way.

I can test this plaster cast and make changes if necessary.

Girl with a Pearl Earring - relief

For this first attempt at a relief sculpture I decided to do an image I had already sculpted in full 3d.

Obviously this is just roughed in so far. not much detail yet.

The deepest part is about 1 1/2" ( just under 4 cm)
