Mastering Portraiture by Philippe Faraut

This is by far the best book I have ever seen for tips and advice on how to become a better sculptor.
Be sure to put a plastic cover on it, you will want to have it nearby as you sculpt from now on.

Simple, clear, and illustrated with perfect photos.
Not another re-hash like most other sculpting books. This is written by a true master sculptor.
Get it from Amazon, it's the best investment you will ever make in improving your sculpting skills.

The second best book is Portrait Sculpting also by Philippe Faraut

Standing nude with arms behind back -Woman with Wolf #2

This is going to be an alternative woman for "First Light, Woman and Wolf".
I plan to make various, interchangeable sculptures. The mood of this with the wolf is very different from the one with the woman's arms out to the side.
I am also sculpting this figure in a way that makes it practical for me to make the mold and castings myself. You can see in the top photo that I filled in the small area above her hand. This is done in sculptures so the rubber mold and the castings will easily separate. By simplifying casting I greatly reduce costs, and improve the finish quality of the sculptures.

Eskie Dog sculpture - Quick models

This is the first quick (15 minute) sketch for my sculpture commission of "Casper D Dog". Casper was an "Eskie"dog who recently died so this will be a memorial.

The gray original on left, then DryStone, and TufStone copies.
In the background is the urethane rubber mold and fiberglass shell for the rubber. The original is slightly messed up during molding, but I will use it to sculpt a second, and third version so the client can choose the best.

Quick models for "Eskie" sculpture
These are about 6" high, the final sculpture will be about 15"

My models are inspecting my work

I make these "maquettes" at no cost to the client. If they like these small samples we will sign the official contract for the sculpture.
